Researchers at Michigan Tech's Great Lakes Research Center study all things water - what is in it, what lives in it, and what lies beneath.
Professional and scholarly conferences are key avenues for presenting one’s research out to the larger community. In addition to sharing knowledge and learning more about the work done by fellow researchers, such conferences also play a key role in graduate students’ professional development. This project will assist students to offset several costs associated with presenting at conferences.
As one of the leading sources of greenhouse gas emissions, highway construction activities must be closely monitored. With careful planning and analysis, offending emissions can easily be lowered—minimizing negative environmental impact. An easy-to-use emissions calculator could help pave the road to a more sustainable future.
As students graduate and enter the workforce, there are certain skills that are necessary in order for them to have a successful career, such as communication and networking. Being able to communicate effectively and develop strong networks is highly sought by potential employers. Travel grants are intended to help graduate students develop these vital skills before they enter the workforce.
